Running a Home Based Business During the Holiday Break

Holiday Fun 200 150x135 Running a Home Based Business During the Holiday BreakYou have to decide whether or not your home based business is one which will attract clients when most are on holidays, or whether or not it is the time to build on the marketing and promotion of your business.

Types of businesses that could do well during the holiday season are those offering special support for folk looking for work (e.g. having left school) and those looking for entertainment and travel. Gifts can sell up to Christmas and then the school requirements needed late January. Music is always popular, but generally speaking, it is tough for the home based business to make money during this time of the year.

However, if the home based business owner can concentrate on marketing and promotion during this time, and build some systems and strategies to take them through the year, then sales later in the year could dramatically increase. It is certainly something that Home Based Business operators should seriously consider.

Three Marketing and Promotion Strategies to Support Your Home Based Business

1. Social Media

Most people still do not see how social media can support or build their home based business. It all seems a bit ‘airy fairy’ and too personal to help a business. Well, there is now one very good reason to take part in Social Media. Google and other search engines are now ranking websites according to how well the site uses social media. They are assuming that if there is good interaction between readers and social media and the site, then it is doing well and should be ranked accordingly.

The one thing you must realise is that Social Media seldom offers a ‘quick fix’ – it requires regular and helpful information and support from you. Build you trust and expertise and you will increase sales! More on how to use Social Media for your business.

2. Keyword Optimization

Your website should be a major marketing channel for your business. That means that you need as many people as possible to find your website and react to it in some way. The easiest way to do this is by having your entire website keyword optimized. This means that you constantly use a keyword (preferably long tailed) in your text that other people search on. You need to know how to choose a good keyword, how to assess its search volume and where exactly should you use it on your website. The Video below will answer many of your questions.

 3. Attraction Marketing

This is all about making potential (and existing) customers feel great. It allows them to see you in a caring, helpful light and they will trust you and better understand your expertise. Yes, social media does this to a degree, but what Attraction Marketing is really about is making others want what you have to offer (rather than you trying to push sales).

Think of what you would like to receive from your associates….a gift, a card, a freebie? There are many things you can do, but why not start off with a card? Just to congratulate them (on a new baby or winning an award); or to wish them well (if they are having a birthday or have been ill or are getting married); or perhaps to thank them (for service they have given) or maybe to just say ‘hello’ (it may have been a fair while since you last communicated).

Does this make an impression? You bet it does! So now you are thinking of time and cost. Having to go out and find an appropriate card, purchasing it (often around the $4 mark these days), writing on it, putting it in an envelope (which you have to address) and finally getting it to the mail box.

How would you like to be able to design your own card (with your logo or photo), type message (in a font of your own writing style) and pay around $1 (plus postage)? Someone else will put it in the envelope, address it and mail it with no extra charge for you! And you can do all this from your computer! WOW!

If you would like to know how it works, go to this space and you can send three cards for free (my gift to you!). Or email me and I will walk you through the process – no obligation!
