How difficult is it to improve search engine ranking so that it can reach page one on Google? Well, that depends. It could be very difficult or it could be really easy. Let me tell you what happened to me.
I wrote an article for my Blog http://homebasedbusinessaustralia.org/blog/ on the topic of ‘Keyword Optimization is the Key to Success for Home Based Businesses’.
I used two main keywords in the heading (however there were other minor keywords too):-
1. keyword optimization
2. home based business
Being a person who likes to save time, I ‘tweaked’ this same article and now called it ‘Keyword Optimization is the Key to Marketing and Promotion’. This time it was placed in the blog http://marketingandpromotion.org/blog/. The main keywords were now:-
1. keyword optimization
2. marketing and promotion
It was these keywords that I was using to improve search engine ranking for my two websites (blogs).
I hope you understand the story so far. It is very important to use the right keywords (i.e. the words others are searching on in Google) in your articles or in the content of your websites. If you want to know exactly where to use them in your website (or blog) you can get more information on this great little video.
But the Internet can work in mysterious ways when you are trying to improve search engine ranking. One page I look up quite frequently on Google is the ‘Google Free Keyword Tool’ as this gives me lists of appropriate keywords and lets me know the search volumes on each one (absolutely essential when working out what keywords to choose) – still with me?
Can you imagine my amazement when I looked up Google for the link to ‘Google Free Keyword Tool’ and discovered on PAGE ONE both the articles I mentioned above? How did they get there? Well, in the article I also mentioned how important the ‘Google Free Keyword Tool’ is when keyword optimizing your website and blog. This was the keyword that is searched on so frequently, that my articles made it to page one for this long tailed keyword (which included some very useful information).
AND I also had shared these articles with my Twitter and Facebook accounts. As well as being on page one, both my listings showed that I had ‘shared’ them via my social media accounts.
This is the very best example I can give you to demonstrate the importance of keywords and social media when wanting to improve search engine ranking to get your website listed on page one of Google.
Once you achieve this high ranking you will increase traffic to this page on your website (check your Google Analytics attachment to your website and see just what pages are being accessed from searches), it is also important to have a ‘call to action’ for the traffic you will be receiving (especially if offers a free giveaway. You can then capture the names and addresses of the visitors, thus creating a most valuable list to market to.
As it is pretty difficult (and often cumbersome) to have a ‘call to action’ section on every single page (as you never know what page will get the high ranking) then I suggest you have a panel on one side of your website that shows on every page and this is where your ‘call to action’ appears.
So, what do I do now to increase my ranking on page one to get it above the current 11 and 12 it sits on (it would be much better to be 4 or 5!)? Well, I will request people from my list to write comments and ‘Like’ the articles. I will further promote them in Facebook and Twitter. I will mention this in my newsletter and of course, ‘tweak’ this article to go in 3 of my blogs. All of this gives me backlinks, which is what Google is looking for when ranking my website. I should be honest that even I had difficulties in increasing my page rank and even sometimes I feel like giving up. What you said is absolutely true that to be able to increase one’s traffic you should have an increase page rank. It needs lots of patience and time. I feel motivated to the pointers you shared.

Its not that crazy hard to improve your rankings – really the thing you need to know is “link juice.” The more links to your site, the better.
